Congratulations to the talented young authors and artists at Wheatland Center School who recently participated in the Southern Lakes Anthology writing project! The theme of this year’s anthology project was “The Journey". Student work was judged on clarity and message, creativity and originality, technical skill and presentation, and overall quality. Each of the thirty-seven participating districts submitted a total of twenty-four pieces to be judged. Wheatland had fourteen of the twenty-four pieces chosen for publication. Congratulations, Warhawks!

Wheatland's middle school e-sports team just brought home their first win in the first official meet in program history! The team came from behind to score a well-deserved victory in a best-of-five Rocket League match. Steve Ketterhagen of the Wheatland J1 School District was recognized as one of three Wisconsin Custodian and Maintenance Professionals of the year by the Wisconsin Association and Business Officials (WASBO. Steve was honored in person at the yearly convention held at the Kalahari in the Wisconsin Dells on February 2nd. This award recognizes the outstanding contributions of those making a difference in their local school district, community, and the custodial and maintenance profession. Steve has worked at Wheatland School for 17 years as a critical member of the maintenance staff. He is well known and respected by students and staff for his incredible work and caring personality.

Award-winning author Barb Rosenstock visited Wheatland to share her incredible stories. Students asked thoughtful questions and learned that writing takes perseverance—perfectly summed up by one student: “You have to keep trying!” At last Thursday's STEAM/Literacy Night, students worked together with family members to design and create butterfly feeders inspired by "The Mystery of the Monarchs" by Barb Rosenstock!
