A severe weather warning has been issued from the National Weather Service in Dousman. This includes the forecast for hazardous ice conditions beginning at 9:00 AM. Due to this forecast, there will be no in-person learning on Wednesday, February 22nd at Wheatland. Teachers will be reaching out to students and parents with virtual learning opportunities for the day. #wcsflight

We celebrated our bus drivers this week at Wheatland…and we appreciate them EVERY day! They make sure our students get to and from school safely. Due to the forecast for extreme weather conditions beginning tomorrow morning and the winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service, we are being proactive in canceling classes for tomorrow, Thursday, February 16. Mr. Thomas Hartley is an active and engaging teacher who works hard to personalize learning for all students. He helps students become independent learners and achieve success by becoming self-advocates! Students have voice and choice during the day, are immersed on hands-on projects, and are able to explore their interests while meeting standards through cross-curricular planning. Ms. Maggie Handel uses a variety of engaging teaching and learning strategies in her 7th and 8th Grade ELA & Math classes at Wheatland. She makes strong connections with her students and collaborates with colleagues to make sure instruction meets the needs of ALL students. Ms. Handel inspires her students with her love for reading and the craft of writing. Ms. Melani Wachholder is a vibrant, fun, and engaging fourth grade teacher who always makes students laugh. Her passion for teaching and connecting with students is evident the minute you walk into her classroom! Ms. Sarah Basting's classroom is full of first graders who love school and their teacher! She provides an active learning environment, organized spaces, and high expectations for all students! Ms. Julie Linton teaches multiple grade levels in both elementary and middle school and is also our STEAM coordinator at Wheatland. Her classroom is always busy and active, giving students the opportunity to create and explore. Mrs. Linton is very flexible and responsive in her teaching, making sure ALL students are engaged. Mrs. Graham is an amazing 4K teacher who really connects with students and families! Her patience and love for four-year-olds shows everyday in her interactions with kids. Students love her songs, routines, and hands-on activities. Mrs. Graham has such a kind heart and gentle touch with those around her. Mrs. Zirbel teaches 7/8 Science and 8th Grade Math. Her students think she is amazing and they really look up to her. She works hard to meet the needs of all types of learners during her lessons and also looks out for their emotional needs. Science and math come to life through her interactive teaching and learning style! Mrs. Zirbel is not afraid to try new things and keep learning alongside her students and colleagues. Our littlest learners are lucky to have Mrs. Kelly Burns and her calming approach in her classroom! Her students know routines and expectations, and enjoy her songs about numbers and the days of the week. She fosters imaginations through play and exploration. Although we have bragging rights over our neighboring school friend for collecting more items during this challenge, everybody wins for our community! 🏅 Wheatland J1 School District students and families collected 6,638 items! Mrs. Elizabeth Hardy has a passion for designing universal instruction so all students benefit from supports. She pushes into middle school classrooms to provide support, co-teaches 7th Grade Math and 7/8 ELA, and delivers specially designed instruction to students. Students love Mrs. Hardy's fun attitude and her laugh. She has great rapport with her students and helps them achieve success every day!
