SVA

Wheatland & Westosha are Excited to Present Southeast Virtual Academy (SVA) - Opening Fall of 2026!

We are excited to share that we received a Federal Charter School Grant for 1.1 million dollars to develop and open a new virtual charter school in Western Kenosha County! Southeast Virtual Academy (SVA) will provide an innovative school option designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s students and families. SVA will serve students in grades 5-12.

The world of education is changing, and so are the ways students learn best. While some thrive in traditional classrooms, others benefit from more flexible, personalized, and connected pathways. SVA would be built to provide students with opportunities to learn in ways that honor their strengths, needs, and goals — whether that’s through online learning, in-person experiences, or a blend of both.

Why SVA?
Our goal in exploring SVA is to create a school that:

  • Offers flexibility for families and students who need learning options outside the traditional model.

  • Supports the whole child — not just academically, but socially, emotionally, and personally.

  • Builds strong connections between students, families, educators, and the wider community.

  • Prepares students for the future of college, careers, and life, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and experiences to thrive.

Our Pillars
SVA would be guided by four foundational pillars:

  1. Personalized & Flexible Pathways – every student has a learning journey designed around their unique strengths and goals – flexible virtual learning combined with robust in-person opportunities in school, the community, and the workplace.

  2. Whole Child Focus – supporting academic, social-emotional, and wellness needs to help students succeed in every aspect of life – featuring highly qualified, caring educators and specialists available for face-to-face instruction and support.

  3. Career & College Connections – offering real-world learning experiences that prepare students for success beyond graduation, by expanding partnerships with Gateway Technical College & local businesses.

  4. Family & Community Partnerships – fostering meaningful collaboration so that learning extends beyond the classroom and into the community.

As we continue this exploration, we are eager to gather input from families, staff, and community members. Together, we can design a school that reflects the values and needs of our community while offering a truly unique and innovative educational experience.
