Wheatland Students Design and Test Cardboard Boats

Cardboard Boat Challenge

The week of October 21, students collaborated in teams build a vessel OUT OF CARDBOARD and DUCT TAPE capable of supporting at least one person to follow a 25 yard race course. The boat was not a model! This was an actual passenger carrying vessel!

On Monday, October 28th, students tested designs built the previous week for the Ships AHOY!  Cardboard Boat Challenge to “Avoid Davy Jones’ Locker”. Boats had creative themes and names and were tested at KD Park.  Students were excited by their team's success.  Eighteen boats were created and only two students capsized.  Sixteen teams were able to make it to shore.
